Phoenix has been awarded the ‘All Formats’ charter
Phoenix Life Limited and Phoenix and London Assurance Limited have successfully met the criteria required to be awarded with the ‘All Formats’ charter. Phoenix is the first financial services organisation to achieve this award which is valid for two years.
From left to right, the picture below shows Sarah Adderley, Commercial Manager at the Queen Alexandra College presenting the award to Fiona Holland, Head of Policyholder Communications at Phoenix.
There are over two million people in the UK that are visually impaired. Due to the nature of our business, and our ageing population, requests for large print, Braille and audio are common place.
All Formats’ is a national charity for the blind and vision impaired, based at the Queen Alexandra College in Birmingham. In September 2007 they launched their charter mark which is awarded to companies who can demonstrate their commitment to the visually impaired community. This in simplest terms means we will:
- Provide policyholder information relating to products and services in alternative formats - Braille, large print or audio format.
- Ensure there is a clear process for staff to request material in an alternative format when asked for by our policyholders.
- Ensure that readable signs are placed in the reception area of our registered and head office address.
- Demonstrate our compliance with current equality and disability legislation - for example accessibility of policyholder information on our website.
This award reflects our on going commitment to our policyholders. We are taking this one step further and from year end we will be changing our stationery to promote the ‘All Formats’ charter to a wider audience.
